Using artificial intelligence

In light of the increasing use of artificial intelligence (AI) in all areas of life and the European Union’s AI Act adopted in March 2024, BAGSO calls in its statement for a better consideration and protection of the fundamental rights and interests of older persons in the development and use of artificial intelligence. According to BAGSO, AI applications must be scrutinised to determine to what extent they are ageist or reproduce stereotypical images of old age. It is also in favour of enshrining the protection of the interests and rights of older persons in the use of AI in law.
