Better protecting the human rights in older age
In many countries around the world, people grow old without social security, adequate care or legal protection from violence and abuse. In order to better position older people in the international human rights system, the UN General Assembly established an Open-ended Working Group on Ageing (OEWG-A) in 2010. After a brief history, this policy brief provides an overview of the work of the OEWG-A and developments around the human rights of older persons at the international level.
