Documentation of the Symposium 

The Federal Ministry for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth (BMFSFJ) organised a two-day symposium on “Preventing Loneliness in Old Age – Enabling Active Social Participation”, including an award ceremony for the competition against loneliness in old age and a market of opportunities. The symposium took place on 18–19 March 2019 in Berlin. More than 200 participants, including representatives of municipalities, associations, civil society organisations, and experts took part. This documentation contains the symposium’s keynote speeches and the contributions of the specialist forums. It was prepared by BAGSO – the German National Association of Senior Citizens’ Organisations – on behalf of the Federal Ministry for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth.
